Kindergarten School: Help Your Kindergartener Have a Strong Sense of Wellbeing
08 May 2023A strong sense of well-being is considerably more than just being content all the time or being free of sickness. It combines physical, social, and emotional elements. Kindergarteners with strong well-being are likelier to be engaged and confident learners. So how do you foster a strong sense of well-being in your child? Here’s how:
• Motivate your child to exercise. Give them more than enough opportunities to play outside and practise their motor skills, including climbing, walking, running, jumping, skipping, and balancing.
• Show lots of physical affection. Your child will feel secure and safe in friendly and encouraging relationships. Your child will feel secure, which gives them the courage to try new things and communicate their emotions.
• Boost your child’s adaptability, independence, decision-making, and interpersonal skills by presenting them with genuine options, allowing them to take calculated risks like climbing and jumping, as well as decisions about how much food to eat and what to wear. As they mature, your child will be able to recognise the characteristics of a friend and handle disputes politely.
• Your child will gain confidence in how their bodies move and improve their physical coordination with dance and movement.
There are a lot of other ways that you can do to help your child become more responsible for their own health and well-being, such as:
• Put on elasticised-waisted pants so they can undress or use the restroom independently.
• Give your child a variety of nutritious foods but let them choose whatever they want to eat. Giving your child some control over what and how much they eat can make mealtimes less stressful.
• Discuss various meals with your kids and get them involved in food preparation and selection. This will raise awareness of the value of eating well.
Children have many opportunities in kindergarten to try various healthful foods and learn about food choices from educators and other kids. Children can build their independence and satisfaction by completing tasks independently, engaging in physical activity and paying attention to their fine and gross motor skills.
Children who are more self-reliant can take more responsibility for their personal care, hygiene, and health and become more aware of their safety and the safety of others. Children have opportunities to learn about health and safety through routines. Healthy eating is crucial for maintaining good health and enabling kids to participate actively in play.
